Three Lions midfielder Jude Bellingham is free to play against Switzerland on Saturday, July 6, 2024, as he was given a suspended one-match ban and a fine of €30,000 for making an offensive gesture.
The midfielder was suspended for the X-rated act he did after the Round of 16 match against Slovakia. He performed this act by kissing his hands countless times and grabbing his private part in front of the fans.
Following his charge by UEFA, Jude Bellingham claimed the offensive conduct was for the England fans. He responded to the charge on his social media account, saying “an inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game.”
In addition, he said “nothing but respect for how Slovakia played.”
The UEFA control of ethics and disciplinary bodies (CEDB) concluded that the Real Madrid midfielder violated the basic rules of decent conduct.
The football governing body released a statement saying, “We have fined the English Football Association player Jude Bellingham €30,000 and suspended him for a total of one UEFA competition match.
“For which he would be otherwise eligible for violating the basic rules of decent conduct.”
“The suspension is not enforced and is subject to a probationary period of one year, starting from the date of the present decision.”
Note that the English FA doesn’t plan to appeal the decision of UEFA.
Jude Bellingham has been an important player for the Three Lions side in Euro 2024. He had started the four previous matches for the England national team in the Euro 2024.
The midfielder has scored two out of the four goals scored by the England squad in Euro 2024, including his overhead kick against Slovakia.
