Chelsea have been heavily linked with Nico Williams since last season, but they chose to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City, which turned out to be good business.

The London club were unable to sign Nico Williams due to his exorbitant wage demand and his significant release clause.

It was revealed that he has a release clause of £58 million. The youngster has been one of the most sought-after players in Europe, with clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Newcastle all lining up for his service.

If he was to leave Athletic Bilbao, football clubs will have to pay more than his release clause because of his impressive form in the Euro 2024 with Spain.
