Lille midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has been hospitalized in France after falling ill, according to the club’s statement on Wednesday, June 19.

The Algeria international, who previously played for Tottenham and Schalke, joined Lille last year and has been a key player for the team.

Nabil Bentaleb made a strong impact in his first season, showcasing his skills in 34 matches and contributing 3 key assists to help his team finish 4th in the Ligue 1 table last season.

The specific nature of Bentaleb’s illness is not revealed yet, but Lille confirmed in a statement that he became ill on Tuesday evening, June 19, and has since been hospitalized.

The club wrote: “LOSC informs that Nabil Bentaleb suffered from illness on the evening of Tuesday, June 18.”

“The player was immediately taken into care and sent to Lille University Hospital for hospitalization.”

The club also stated that they are providing all the necessary support to the 29-year-old Algerian defensive midfielder during this difficult time.

They added: “LOSC accompanies Nabil as closely as possible during this ordeal and gives him all its support. The club also calls for greater respect for the private life of its player.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham, where Bentaleb started his career, sent their love and best wishes to the midfielder on social media.
