Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have opened talks to sign Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes, 29, eked out a standout individual performance for Manchester United in the 2023-24 campaign despite the club’s misfortunes.
He registered 18 goal contributions in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals with 8 assists. Regarded as one of the best midfielders, the Man United captain has been linked to a possible transfer exit from the Old Trafford club this summer.
According to Portuguese outlet, O Jogo, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are interested in a move for Bruno Fernandes. Bayern Munich’s new manager, Vincent Kompany reportedly wants to make the Man United skipper his first signing to add depth to the Bavarian’s midfield in the upcoming campaign.
The former Burnley manager wants to get the deal done soon and has reportedly made the first crucial step by contacting the player’s agent to inquire about the Portuguese’s availability.
Fernandes has two years on his Manchester United contract. He is considered key to the United squad. Amidst reports of Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s intended raid and overhaul of the squad this summer, Fernandes is considered untouchable and has been omitted from the chopping block.
However, his future at the Old Trafford club has been a dominant topic in the rumor mills. Addressing the rumors recently, Bruno Fernandes said he is committed to Manchester United and is ready to continue with the club next season.
”I love this club and I am committed. It is an honor to play for the club and I will continue next season,” he said.
Despite blotting out rumors of imminent exit, it is believed the Portuguese could be forced to accept Bayern Munich’s call and take up a new challenge away from Manchester United.
