Liverpool has, on Saturday, completed the transfer of Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers Diogo Jota in a £45 million deal.

This comes barely hours after Liverpool completed the signing of world-class defensive midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Liverpool as he was unveiled as the club’s new No. 20 after passing his medical at the Melwood center.

It’s reported that Red’s head coach Jurgen Klopp has been a long-time admirer of the forward and is excited about the prospects of having him in his squad.

Speaking on the Liverpool official website, Jota said: “It’s just a really exciting moment for me and my family.

“All of my path since I was a kid and now, to join a club like Liverpool — the world champions — is just unbelievable. I just want to get started.

“It is one of the best teams in the world – the best at the moment because they are world champions. When you look at the Premier League, you always see Liverpool as one of the biggest teams in the country, so it’s impossible to say no.

“So we just want to come [here], to give our best and hopefully I can become a good option for Liverpool in the future.”

Jota moves to the Premier League champions having impressed during his spell at Molineux where he arrived in 2017.

Since his arrival, he has scored 33 goals while registering 11 assists as he played a key role in bringing Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to the English top-flight and clinching European football in the following seasons.

Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo was full of praises for the forward, as he believes Jota is going to the right place with his Liverpool switch.

In a pre-match press conference on Saturday, ahead of Wolves Monday’s tie with Manchester City, Nuno said: “Diogo is amazing and everybody knows the relationship we built. What Diogo did for us is absolutely fantastic.

“I think Diogo is going to the right place and we wish him all the best, knowing that it never be forgotten, especially by our fans, all the memorable moments that Diogo provided.”

Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever has now moved the other way, as he completes a £10 million move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
