Kieran McKenna has been offered a staggering new contract by Ipswich Town to try and put off potential suitors, who appear to be interested in his services.

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Brighton have all indicated their desire to get the services of the Northern Irishman, following his exploits at Portman Road.

McKenna guided Ipswich Town to back-to-back promotions, with the team returning to the top flight for the first time after 22 years.

The club’s administrators are intensifying efforts to ensure that they keep the former assistant boss of Manchester United.

    Kieran McKenna’s Improved Ipswich Contract

Kieran McKenna has been offered a mind-blowing new contract worth about £5 million annually and he will earn this sum over the next four seasons.

Ipswich Town have made this move as they expect Brighton to table an offer for the manager within the next 24 hours, as they look to replace Roberto De Zerbi.

McKenna’s current contract is around £1.2 million yearly, but it is still a huge sum for a Championship manager.

It is unknown if this new offer tabled by Ipswich Town will keep him at the club, however, it is expected that he ponders critically on his next move due to potential realities on ground.

Reports claim that Ipswich believe their best chance of remaining in the top-flight next season is to keep hold of Kieran McKenna.

McKenna, 38, apparently also held talks with Crystal Palace during the 2023/24 season over replacing veteran tactician Roy Hodgson.

This current deal is said to be the biggest contract Ipswich Town have offered since handing Italian goalie Matteo Sereni a deal of over £20,000 per week when he joined the club from Sampdoria in a deal worth about £4.5 million in 2001.

The Tractor Boys were relegated from the Premier League in 2002 and they had battled through the lower ranks of English football since they went down.

Happily for the team, manager Kieran McKenna has spearheaded the club to the top flight and they will be hoping for a great 2024/25 season.

    Clubs Interested In Kieran McKenna

Meanwhile, McKenna could be tempted away from Ipswich Town in the coming weeks, with three huge offers set to be tabled before him, including that of the Seagulls.

A big option that could be dangled before him could be the coaching role at Manchester United, having previously worked there as an assistant manager at Old Trafford.

It is uncertain if the Red Devils will go for him, as they have also been linked with Mauricio Pochettino following his departure from Chelsea.

Erik Ten Hag’s future continues to hang in the balance, with some reports indicating that he could be dismissed after the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

INEOS boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be a huge admirer of Pochettino, and as such, he could be offering the big job of handling Manchester United to him.

McKenna has also in the past taken charge of the Under 18 side of Tottenham Hotspur, leading the team to the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup in 2015.

Additionally, Chelsea’s hierarchy has discussed the possibility of appointing Kieran McKenna, with De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim also linked with the vacant managerial role at Stamford Bridge.
