Manchester United might have resigned to making a further pursuit for the signature of Borussia Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho.

However, an ESPN source believes that if the Red Devils fail to prise him away from Borussia Dortmund in this transfer window, the competition for his signature will increase as the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid might come for him.

The statement is coming on the back on attribute of the player who could have a successful season in 2020-21.

Jadon Sancho has lit up the Bundesliga and would be a superb signing for Manchester United

United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the other hand still want the winger despite the insistence of the Bundesliga that they will keep the 20-year-old for at least another season.

Recall that United has already made progress with wages and agent fees, but they are adamant they will not pay the €120 million asking price. The club might therefore look at other targets to fill the hole in the squad.

Other options for Manchester United target Jadon Sancho

With three weeks left in the transfer window, there is the possibility of negotiating a loan deal for experienced alternatives like Douglas Costa, Kingsley Coman, Ivan Perisic or Gareth Bale.

Sources have told ESPN that even if a deal cannot be reached this summer, Sancho is likely to remain a target in 12 months’ time.

United became the front runner for Sancho’s deal due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are also monitoring Sergio Reguilon’s situation at Madrid. United had faced the left-back, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla in the last four of the Europa League.

What is left is for Man United to make an official bid after conversations have been held between chief negotiator Matt Judge and the 23-year-old’s representatives.

Tottenham is also interested in the defender who has not ruled out staying at the Bernabeu to fight for his place.

The only transfer business done by United so far is Holland midfielder, Donny van de Beek, from Ajax for $35m.

They could be selling centre-back Chris Smalling to AS Roma permanently. Smalling had enjoyed his season long loan at Roma last season and he is reportedly keen to return.

Jadon Sancho scores his first goal of the season

In a related development, it only took Sancho 14 minutes to open his season goal account.

The winger in the DFB Cup clash against Duisburg fired Borussia Dortmund ahead from the penalty spot in his 100th appearance for the club.

Dortmund were awarded a penalty after one of Disburg’s players handbaled Axel Witsel’s cross from the left side.
