Irish star James McClean has saluted the fans of the newly promoted League One side, Wrexham, for singing an anti-King Charles III chant, weeks after the King’s son, Prince Williams, visited the club.

After Wrexham trashed the Forest Green Revolution 6-0, they were confirmed as a newly promoted League One side.

The fans celebrated the impressive win with songs about their players, including the Irish star, McClean.

In the video posted on social media, the Wrexham fans were clearly heard singing “he hates the f***ing king” in response to the well-publicized Republican stance of the Irish man.

McClean had always been a disharmonious figure in British football, and his stance against the Royal Family had always been a cause for debate.

While the Irish star was playing for Wigan Athletic, McClean called out the English FA for their failure to deal with anti-Irish abuse in a game after an incident at Blackpool.

The English FA had previously investigated fans singing anti-pop and anti-IRA (Irish Republican Army) songs towards McClean on a number of occasions.

In September 2023, the Irish star admitted regret over posting a controversial picture in lockdown while homeschooling his children in relation to the Irish Republican Army.

For the controversial post, which was later removed by McClean, the Irish star was fined two weeks wages by Stoke City, which was the club he was playing for as of March 2020.

Another controversial thing done by the player was turning his back upon the recitation of the national anthem. The player also stated his affinity with Derry, coupled with the roles of the British Army in the Bloody Sunday, in Londonderry (Derry), Northern Ireland, on Sunday, January 30, 1972.

At the start of March 2024, Prince Williams visited the pitch at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground to hear an account of the club’s rise, since it was being taken over by two Hollywood stars, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

Prince Williams also proceeded to meet the club staff and players. Upon his visit, Prince Williams received a personal shirt from Wrexham co-owner McElhenney, and players like Luke Young and Ben Tozer were on the pitch with the Prince.

In addition, the Prince poured a pint and downed a whisky with McElhenney at the Turf pub next to Wrexham Ground.

How old is James McClean?

The player was born on April 22, 1989, in the city of Derry, Northern Ireland. He is currently 34 years old, with a height of 5 feet and 11 inches.
