Chelsea’s new signings, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell, will reportedly miss the Blues Premier League opener due to injury while Christian Pulisic returns to action.

With the Start of the 2020/21 Premier League Campaign, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea would pay a visit to Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday 14th of September.

Chelsea has gone through a squad overhaul in the few months as Lampard bolstered his squad for the coming season.

The Blues signed Ajax star winger Hakim Ziyech for £37 million before the start of the summer window, while also triggering the £53 million release clause of RB Leipzig talisman Timo Werner.

Ben Chilwell quit the King Power Stadium To link up with Frank Lampard at the Bridge while they also snapped up veteran defender Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain, following the French outfits Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

The Blues, who have been ruthless in the summer transfer window, also completed the signing of German sensation Kai Havertz for a record £71millon, plus add ons.

However, according to reports, Chelsea faithful will have to wait before seeing new signings Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell in action, as they are reported to miss the start of the season due to injury.

Morocco international Hakim Ziyech featured in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Brighton in their pre-season match where he twisted his knee while attempting to clear the ball which forced to exit the Amex Stadium in the 54th minute.

Ben Chilwell, who has been suffering from a heel injury he picked in Leicester City’s fixture against Crystal Palace last season, will also miss Chelsea’s opener, as he is still recovering from the injury.

Chelsea has been handed a big boost as American international, Christian Pulisic, who was sidelined following a hamstring injury suffered in the FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal, has been training with the squad ahead of the match on Monday.

It is reported that Pulisic is in line to feature in the game, having recovered from his injury, while new boy Havertz is also set to make his debut at the Amex Stadium.

The Blues reportedly spent over £200 million this summer, and Lampard would be desperate to make a statement by kicking off their campaign with a flyer.
