Real Madrid sensation Jude Bellingham has added another laurel to his shelf as he has been crowned winner of European Golden Boy Award.

A solid performance from the English midfield sensation saw him emerge as the undisputed winner of the award which is always given to the best under-21 footballer in Europe.

The 20-year-old saw off the challenge from other fast-rising youngsters in Europe to clinch the award after he won 2023 Ballon d’Or Kopa Trophy with over 97% of the vote.

Bellingham has taken the football world by storm. After flashes of his individual brilliance with Borussia Dortmund, the English midfielder has taken his craft and creativity to a far higher level in Spain’s capital with Real Madrid.

In 14 appearances for the club, Bellingham has scored 13 times with his dazzling form climaxing with a remarkable performance in his La Liga ElClasico debut.

The English youngster scored the two goals that saw Real Madrid overturned a goal deficit to smash all three points against the arch-domestic rivals.

Jude Bellingham’s Golden Boy Award followed his 2023 Kopa Trophy win in Paris.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has been part of my journey so far at Birmingham, Dortmund and now Madrid. It wouldn’t be possible without them,” he said.

“Lastly and most importantly my family who give me the support and motivation and love every day to keep striving.

“Now I have this prestigious award I want to keep going. I want to keep pushing the limits of my potential and hopefully many more trophies to come.”

Bellingham has now joined the elite category of English footballers who have clinched the award. Wayne Rooney and Raheem Sterling are two other English players who won the award.

Other notable winners are Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Erling Haaland.
