Ryan Fraser Joins Callum Wilson at Newcastle as Magpies Complete Double Swoop for Bournemouth Stars

Ryan Fraser has linked up with former team-mate Callum Wilson at the St. James Park after joining Newcastle on a five-year deal. He repotedly completed his medical on Monday Morining at the Stadium grounds. 

The Scotland international was a free agent after leaving Bournemouth last season reportedly turned down offers from Crystal Palace to join Newcastle side instead.

“It was just a no-brainer, really, to play in such a big stadium with such passionate fans, and being back up in the north again is big as well,” he told Newcastle’s website.

“So I’m really looking forward to it and I just can’t wait to show everyone what I can do, help the team and help us get back to where we belong.”

It is reported that Callum Wilson had also turned down offers from Aston Villa to become Newcastle’s third-highest transfer fee paid for a player in a £20 million move on Monday morning.

The 28-year-old revealed that Premier League legend Alan Shearer played a huge role in his decision

“[Alan Shearer] is a hero here and I asked him a few questions when I was coming up, he reiterated I’m making the right decision, and said if I work hard and score goals the fans will love me.”

On teaming up with Ryan Fraser once more, Wilson revealed his delight on his partner joining him at the St. James Park, stating he couldn’t wait to get on the pitch him once more.

“Ryan Fraser was a great partner of mine at Bournemouth,” Wilson added. “We had great communication. He’d be a great addition to any team and I’m looking forward to playing with him, if he comes here.

The duo holds the record for most Premier League goal combinations after they combined for 12 goals in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.
