Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has been keen on bringing a new goal-keeper to the Bridge after Kepa Arrizabalaga failed to make an impact for the Blues last season.

Reports claim Chelsea have now cast their sight on Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero to come and challenge Kepa for the No.1 spot.

Sergio Romero has been a fringe player at Manchester United since his arrival, as he is the second option to Spanish shot-stopper David De Ge.

Now with the arrival of Dean Henderson after his loan spell at Sheffield United, it appears Romero’s days with the Reds are numbered.

It is reported that the player also has some differences with head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and is now ready to leave the Old Trafford.

United have also reportedly considered making him as part of the deal for the purchase of Aston Villas star Jack Grealish.

In a surprising turn of events, Chelsea has come out as a potential destination for the Argentine goalie.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, who moves to the Bridge from Athletic Bilbao for £71 million in 2018 has been largely disappointing for the Blues.

Since the open of the summer transfer window, Frank Lampard has been on the lookout to replace the Spaniard. The likes of Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, Ajax’s Andre Onana, and Burnley’s Jordan Pickford.

However, Chelsea has now identified Manchester United want-away, Sergio Romero, as a potential option.

According to the Athletic, Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard will be happy to bring the Argentian international, who will cost around £10 million.

Chelsea has already completed the signing of six players this summer alone with Werner, Ziyech, Chilwell, center-back Thiago Silva, and Malang Sarr, and German starlet Kai Havertz.

The Blue, who have already spent around £200 million in the transfer window are now set to fix their goalkeeping crisis, however, with only cheaper options.

Romero is bent on leaving Manchester United in hopes of more game time, however, it would be interesting to see if Chelsea can offer the Argentine the number one spot he so desires.
