Inter Miami have taken a stand on Barcelona’s attempt to sign Lionel Messi on loan in January transfer window.

The Catalan giants lose out on a chance to bring back Lionel Messi when his contract at PSG was about to expire.

The Laliga giants were considered favorites to land Messi among the trio of clubs (Barcelona, Al Hilal, and Inter Miami) that were lining up to sign the player.

Messi confirmed in his press interview he would have opted to return to the club that made him who he is after they indicated interest but he added the move was not possible as they were still grappling with financial problems that made him leave the club tearfully in 2021.

Messi opted for a move to Inter Miami in the MLS – a table-turning transfer that shocked pundits and fans alike.

He has been phenomenal since joining the club, scoring 11 goals in 13 matches. However, he has failed of short of helping the team reach MLS Playoffs. Messi will now be without action for months after the MLS Playoffs deadlock while action will continue at the European scene.

Barcelona are hopeful of exploiting the short relapse of inaction for Messi to have him return to the club in January on loan.

According to Spanish outlet, sport, Inter Miami will not object to Barcelona’s loan move for Lionel Messi. The club have immense respect for the player and will agree to let him leave on loan if he so desires.

Messi has a year remaining on his Inter Miami contract and is reportedly considering retirement when that contract expires. He will certainly relish the chance to return to Camp Nou and bid a proper farewell to the club that made him who he is before he call time on his career.
