Wayne Rooney will reportedly earn about £1.5million-a-year to take over from Eustace, who was sacked on Sunday, 8th October.

Futballnews understands that Eustace earned about £9,000-a-week in wages and that will be dwarfed by the incoming Englishman.

The former D.C. United manager will receive about £29,000-a-week to front the club’s promotion push.

Birmingham have also revealed to the former Derby County boss that he will receive more than the £23,653-a-week salary he was paid at D.C United.

Wayne Rooney, 37, became the manager of the Major League Soccer side in July 2022 following his resignation as manager of Derby County.

Wayne Rooney decided to leave the MLS side after a mutual agreement as he failed to lead the club to the MLS Cup play-offs.

The Englishman has been on the Blues’ new American owner Tom Wagner’s radar after he was advised by his CEO Garry Cook to appoint the Englishman.

Garry Cook has been a close pal with the Manchester United legend since he held a senior position with Nike.

NFL legend Tom Brady also co-owns the club and is believed to be looking forward to signing Rooney to bring more change to the club.

On the other hand, Wayne Rooney, will be bringing former team-mates Ashley Cole and John O’Shea with him to St Andrew’s to form his coaching team.

Speaking about the job, he said: “It’s the right time. I’ve done everything I can to get this club into the play-offs. It’s not a single thing that’s happened. It’s about timing.”

DC United CEO and co-chairman Jason Levien also added: “We have spoken with Wayne and agreed it is best for us to part ways at this time.”

“We are grateful to Wayne Rooney for all he has done for our club.”

Wayne Rooney is already on the verge of nabbing two former teammates to join his backroom team as reported by BBC Five Live.

Ex-Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole and O’Shea, 42, will be joining the Englishman at the new club.
