Football fans got a rare sight of a dog on the stands with spectators watching the Premier League match between Luton Town and Tottenham Hotspur at Kenilworth Road.
The dog held by one of the spectators caught the attention of other spectators who seemed giddy with its presence on the stands.
Seemingly unruffled by the thousands of fans who thronged into the stadium to watch the match, the dog could be seen steadily keeping its gaze glued to the action on the pitch while onlookers fixed their gaze on it, especially some fans close to where it was standing.
Netizens have reacted to the rare but shocking presence of the dog on the stadium with some fans sarcastically calling for the dog to be appropriated with VAR duty.
A fan wrote, “is the guide dog that belongs to last week’s VAR officials.”
Another wrote, “That dog should be employed to work in VAR.”
Another fan added, “That Italian referee Collina.”
Tottenham Hotspur made light of Yves Bissouma’s late red card in the first half of the game to eke out a win against Luton Town.
James Maddison made his 6th goal contribution for Spurs since joining from relegated Leicester as he delivered the assist that saw van de Ven score his first goal for Tottenham.
Maddison made a brilliant daring move penetrating Luton box from the right wing after receiving a pass from a cornerkick before he served the ball on a plate for van de Ven who effortlessly slotted it home from close range to give Tottenham the lead.
The goal was enough to hand Spurs the win as they returned to the top of the Premier League table pending the outcome of other games.
