Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior reportedly testified in court on Thursday, 5th of October 2023, against racial abuses from Valencia fans.
The Brazilian however, gave his testimony via a video conference from Madrid as the hearing took place in Valencia, Spain.
The Madrid attackers’ testimony was heard by a judge who also analyzed the evidence that was presented to him at the hearing.
The evidence was against the fans who are accused of directing a racial slur at Vinicius in a match at Valencia’s Mestalla stadium on May 21.
The 23-year-old Brazilian admitted that while he enjoys playing in an atmosphere where fans are against him, there should be no room for Racism.
Also, Futballnews understands that the Real Madrid star learned from the accused’s lawyers that “he is called a monkey because he is a provocateur.”
The Los Blancos number 7 argued that the provocations are part of sport, however, that does not give room for abuse, with the magistrate supporting the player.
Alongside Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid and Brazil defender Éder Militão was also revealed to have also been a victim of racial abuse.
Following the abuse of Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, the three fans who were involved – aged between 18 and 21 – are facing hate crime charges.
Futballnews also reported that Valencia banned the three fans for life from their stadium, following the incident on May 21st.
Valencia Football Club on Thursday also demanded that the Real Madrid attacker “publicly rectify” his alleged testimony.
The club claimed that the young Brazilian informed the judge that the entire Mestalla stadium yelled racist insults at him.
The club released a statement saying: “Given the information published regarding the alleged statement given in court by the footballer Vinicius Junior stating that the entire Mestalla stadium hurled racist insults at him in the match between Valencia CF and Real Madrid CF last season, the Club wishes to express its surprise, rejection, and indignation.”
The club also went on to add: “As [Real Madrid] coach Carlo Ancelotti himself publicly acknowledged, in no case can the behavior be generalized to the entire Mestalla stadium.”
“The Club is fully aware of the seriousness of this matter. Racism has no place in football or in society, but it cannot be fought with fallacies or unfounded lies… The Valencian fans cannot be classified as racist and Valencia CF demands that Vinicius Junior publicly rectify his alleged statement this morning.”
As we stated earlier, the Brazilian testified in court on 5th October 2023 for the racist slurs received on May 21 in the Valencia-Real Madrid match.
