Victor Osimhen’s current contract expires in 2025, and Napoli are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal.

“We are in talks with Osimhen’s representatives over a contract extension,” De Laurentiis told reporters. “We want to keep him at Napoli for many years to come. He is a key player for us, and we believe that he has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world.”

Osimhen has been a huge success since joining Napoli from Lille in 2020. He has scored 38 goals in 74 appearances for the club, and he helped them to win the Coppa Italia in 2022. He was also named Serie A Best Young Player in 2021-22.

Osimhen has been linked with a move to a number of top European clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea. However, Napoli are determined to keep him, and they are confident that they can reach an agreement with him over a new contract.

If Osimhen does sign a new contract with Napoli, it will be a major boost for the club. He is one of their most important players, and he is key to their hopes of challenging for the Serie A title again this season.

Napoli’s controversial tiktok video on Victor Osimhen

On September 27, 2023, Napoli posted a TikTok video on their official account that appeared to mock their striker Victor Osimhen. The video showed Osimhen missing a penalty in Napoli’s 0-0 draw against Bologna on Sunday, September 25. The video was later deleted, but it was widely shared on social media and sparked outrage from Osimhen’s fans.

The video began with a sped-up voice saying “give me penalty, please” over footage of Osimhen asking for the ball. It then showed his penalty miss, with a high-pitched sound effect that seemed to resemble like giggling or some other comedic sound.

Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, later threatened legal action against Napoli. Osimhen himself removed all images of himself in a Napoli shirt from his social media accounts.

Napoli issued a statement on Thursday, September 29, saying that the video was “a mistake” and that they “never intended to offend or make fun of Victor Osimhen.” The club also said that they “regret any offense that the video may have caused.”

Osimhen has since returned to the Napoli squad and has scored two goals in his last two appearances for the club. He has also said that he wants to remain at Napoli and help the club to win trophies.
