Getafe president Ángel Torres said that the club was “appalled” by the chants and that they had no place in football.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the hate chants that were directed at Mason Greenwood by some of the Real Sociedad fans today,” Torres said in a statement. “These chants are disgusting and unacceptable, and they have no place in football.

“We stand in solidarity with Mason Greenwood and we hope that the Real Sociedad club and the authorities take the appropriate action against those responsible.”

Greenwood is currently suspended by Manchester United pending an investigation into allegations of rape and assault. He has denied the allegations.

The hate chants are a reference to the allegations against Greenwood. They are completely unacceptable and have no place in football.

Getafe’s condemnation of the chants is welcome. It is important that clubs take a stand against this type of abuse and send a clear message that it will not be tolerated.

The club should also call on Real Sociedad to take action against those responsible. This includes identifying the individuals who chanted, banning them from the stadium, and reporting them to the relevant authorities.

It is also important to educate fans about the dangers of this type of abuse. Fans should be made aware that chanting hate speech at a player is not only offensive and disrespectful, but it can also have serious consequences. It can put the player at risk of harm and it can also damage the reputation of the club and the sport.

Football should be a safe space for everyone, and fans should be able to enjoy the game without fear of abuse. Getafe’s response to the hate chants is a step in the right direction, but more needs to be done to tackle this issue.
