Mason Greenwood is now a top transfer target for clubs as Manchester United part ways with the embattled young forward.
After months of internal enquiry and investigations into the alleged rape saga, Manchester United finally decided to part ways with Greenwood.
A club statement confirming the decision revealed Manchester United, Mason Greenwood’s family, and Greenwood himself, have agreed for an exit solution for the youngster away from Old Trafford.
The statement also revealed Mason Greenwood did not commit the said offense but has admitted he made mistakes of which he has learned from.
Manchester United also debunked viral report last week which claimed the club were ready to bring back Mason Greenwood. They maintained a reintegration of Mason Greenwood into Man United squad was an option nevertheless but as the investigation evolved, the club opted for an exit solution for Greenwood as the most reliable decision.
However, the club have added they will work with the player to help resettle him in his career elsewhere away from Old Trafford.
While Greenwood and Manchester United have agreed to mutually end their engagement, it is still unclear whether the club will opt for a loan or outright sale of the player.
Before Manchester United’s decision, Mason Greenwood dominated transfer headlines with reports linking him to some top clubs in Europe, including a move to China.
With his Manchester United fate now sealed, Mason Greenwood will be another hot shot in the transfer window with just few days before the door is slammed shot.
After Manchester United announced Greenwood will leave the club, the Sun reports Steven Gerrard’s Al Etiffaq and Jose Mourinho’s Roma are on the trail of the youngster.
Steven Gerrard, who is working wonders with Al Etiffaq after joining the club as new manager this summer, is reportedly interested in signing Mason Greenwood.
The Premier League and Liverpool legend helped Al Etiffaq sign his former teammate and Liverpool midfield veteran Jordan Henderson and is hoping to add Mason Greenwood to the list of his new signings
Al Etiffaq are reportedly ready to offer Greenwood a £10m-per-annum deal to convince him to join the club.
Also linked to Greenwood after United’s announcement is Jose Mourinho’s Roma. Jose Mourinho has been credited for the discovery of Greenwood after he promoted the youngster to Manchester United first team in 2018.
It is not the first time the Portuguese tactician has been linked with a move for Mason Greenwood.
While United were still on internal investigation into the rape saga, Jose Mourinho was said to be interested in a loan move for the Jamaican born Englishman although the report was later debunked.

Manchester United will be racing against time to let Greenwood leave. While the club have announced a decision on Greenwood, their exit plan for the youngster is still unclear.
The club have confirmed they will work with the player to help him resettle for a fresh start away from Old Trafford. Greenwood has two years remaining in his £75,000-weekly contract.
Man United have until 31 August 2023 to either sell or loan out Mason Greenwood before the transfer window closes or broker a deal for a payoff with Greenwood if they cannot sort his future before the deadline.
However, the club still have until September 20 to decide on the exit plan for Greenwood.
