The 19-year-old striker who is of Nigerian descent has recently signed a contract that will ensure his presence at Diego Simeone’s team until June 2028.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s recent tweet, Atletico have successfully secured the signing of Omorodion by activating his €6m release clause.

In addition, Marca reported that Omorodion will stay on loan at Granada for the upcoming season before eventually joining Los Colchoneros.

Atletico Madrid were poised to sign the promising young forward Samu Omorodion from Granada, after he scored against them last Monday, August 14.

The deal is evident that Atletico Madrid were impressed by Samu Odorodion’s performance that night.

On Monday night at the Civitas Metropolitano, the 19-year-old striker made his debut for Granada in La Liga and he left a lasting impression with his performance.

He harassed Mario Hermoso, which led to him receiving a yellow card in the first half, and later scored the equalizer for the visiting team.

Samu’s exceptional performance against Diego Simeone’s formidable defense has undoubtedly played a significant role in convincing Atlético to proceed with his purchase.

Atlético plan to honor Samu’s €6 million release clause, even though he recently renewed his contract with Granada until 2028.

Marca reported that the decision to let Samu go upset Granada, as they have previously maintained a positive relationship with Atlético.

It was revealed that Granada had intended to retain Samu in the first team for this year, resulting in an increase of his release clause to €40 million by 2024.

However, former Atleti center-back Juanma López, who is both Samu’s agent and Álvaro Morata’s representative, played a crucial role in initiating this deal immediately after Monday night’s game.

This was done well in advance of the activation of Samu’s new release clause.

According to multiple reports by Marca and Relevo, Samu will be staying on loan at Granada for this season before eventually joining Diego Simeone’s team.
