This gesture piqued the amazement of Messi’s fans after they spotted his huge Inter Miami bodyguard on duty on the sidelines during a live game.

Since Messi arrived in Major League Soccer, fans have been in a state of uncontrollable frenzy in recent weeks.

Messi, 36, has scored 9 goals in 6 matches for the MLS outfit and the Argentine appears to be enjoying his life in the States.

Keeping Lionel Messi safe is the assignment of a bodyguard who was hired by Inter Miami.

The huge bodyguard has also been spotted several times following the 2022 World Cup winner around on matchdays.

He has also been seen shadowing the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star off Inter Miami’s team bus.

The bodyguard has also been seen several times during these periods patrolling the right touchline during matches.

Lionel Messi will always be in safe hands as the henchman ensures that fans don’t get too close to the player and he has been seen throwing a shirt to the ground after it had been launched at the former Barcelona star to sign.

He also sees Messi off the pitch and into the tunnel during half-time and also after the game is over.

While bodyguard in football, especially when players are on the pitch is a strange aspect of the game, Messi’s fans took to social media pages to applaud the gesture.

Messi is on course to win his first trophy in the States this Sunday when his side takes on Nashville in the Leagues Cup final.

The former Barcelona and PSG attacker has scored at least once in every game he has played for MLS side Inter Miami so far.

Lionel Messi will now play in the Leagues Cup final in the US Open Cup semis against Cincinnati next week.

The World Cup-winning player will have his MLS debut on August 26, 2023, against New York Red Bulls.
