Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been acquainted with their opponents for the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Due to both clubs not playing in Europe next season, they will be commencing the competition from the second round.
Chelsea would be welcoming AFC Wimbledon to Stamford Bridge in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
The match will be played on either Tuesday, August 29, 2023, or Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
The ticket details would be announced later and the exact date would also be made known soon.
Chelsea are yet to play against AFC Wimbledon in a competitive encounter, since their formation in 2002.
In progressing to the second round, The Dons came from a goal down on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 to defeat Coventry City with two late goals scored by Omar Bugiel and Ryan McLean.
The Blues will be aiming for their first silverware under Mauricio Pochettino and the EFL Cup is a good avenue to achieve that ambition.
Tottenham Hotspur opponent in the Carabao Cup second round
For Tottenham Hotspur, they will travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Ange Postecoglou’s side aren’t certain about their fate with 30-year-old forward, Harry Kane.
However, possibly one thing manager Postecoglou is certain of is that he will have the chance to test out some legs in his squad.
The Carabao Cup draw was shared into two halves between north and south to curb too much mid-week travel for supporters.
English National League champions Wrexham will play Bradford at their home turf.
Nottingham Forest will also trade tackles with Vincent Kompany’s Burnley in what would be an all Premier League affair.
Championship side Leicester City will play against Tranmere Rovers in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Leeds United travel to The Peninsula Stadium in Greater Manchester to play Salford City.
Sean Dyche’s Everton will face Doncaster Rovers in the second round, while newly-promoted Premier League side Sheffield United battle against Lincoln City.
Swansea City will entertain the Cherries in the second round of the Carabao Cup, while Premier League newcomers Luton Town host Gillingham.
