Lauren James has taken to her Twitter account to apologize to Michelle Alozie Of Nigeria after stamping on her waistline in Monday’s match.

Recall we reported that England National Team beat Super Falcons of Nigeria 4-2 on penalties to head to the quarter-finals.

However, that is not the only thing that happened that day, England star James, was sent off in the match for a misconduct.

In the 87th minute, Lauren James was shown a straight red card which should have been an opportunity for Nigeria to beat them – but they failed.

James was initially shown a yellow card but it was changed to a straight red after referee Melissa Borjas checked her pitch-side monitor on the recommendation of the VAR.

James’ red card left England facing spot-kicks to avoid another massive shock at the tournament, which had already seen former winners USA and Germany eliminated early, along with Brazil.

The match between England and Nigeria advanced to penalties after the extra time ended 0-0, with a quarter-final place at stake.

England advanced to the next stage on penalties, winning 4-2 to seal their spot in the last eight.

The Lionesses rode on their luck but they didn’t lose their resolve and left the Super Falcons in tears.

Lauren James will now miss the quarter-final on Saturday, 12th August, 2023 which they much manage without her.

We also reported that James could miss the rest of the tournament should FIFA chief deicide to extend the one match ban.

Lauren James Apologizes to Alozie

Following the incident that occurred on Monday, 7th August 2023 in the Nigeria v England match, James has taken to her social media account to apologize.

In a tweet she shared on Twitter, James said: “All my love and respect to you. I am sorry for what happened.”

“Also, for our England fans and my team-mates, playing with and for you is my greatest honour and I promise to learn from my experience.”

This is coming after the victim, Michelle Alozie, shared a tweet asking fans to refrain from attacking the England ace, saying she understands that emotions were high.

In her Tweet, Alozie wrote: “Abeg, rest. we are playing on the world’s stage.”

“This game is one of passion, insurmountable emotions, and moments.”

And ended the tweet with “all respect for Lauren James.”

Immediately Lauren James quoted the tweet and apologized to Michelle Alozie. The Englishwoman has turned off her comments section as fans were already trooping in to continue the attack.

James was born on 29th September, 2001  and plays as a forward for Chelsea and the England women’s national team.

Who Is Michelle Alozie?

Michelle Chinwendu Alozie is an American-born Nigerian footballer who was born on 28th April, 1997 and plays as a forward for National Women’s Soccer League team Houston Dash and the Nigeria women’s national team.

Alozie was born and bred in Apple Valley, California, to Nigerian parents who hails from Imo State, Nigeria.

The professional footballer attended the Granite Hills High School in her hometown.

Michelle Alozie studied at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, as an undergraduate and played football for the Yale Bulldogs.

However, she suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament that ended her senior season and transferred as a graduate to the University of Tennessee to continue playing for the Tennessee Volunteers.

Michelle Alozie also holds a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Yale University.

Alozie also works as a part–time cancer research technician at the Texas Children’s Hospital.
