Sadio Mane’s agent, Bacary Cisse, has blasted Bayern Munich for selling Sadio Mane, revealing why the club parted ways with the Senegalese forward.
Sadio Mane is now an Al Nassr player having completed a £34m switch to the Saudi outfit.
Mane signed a three-year contract with Bayern Munich but was forced to leave the club this summer following a disappointing spell with the Bundesliga outfit.
His premature exit has been linked to his dwindling form at the club and his struggle to break into the team’s starting lineup.
However, his agent, Bacary Cisse, shares a different view. Cisse said Mane did not leave Bayern Munich for footballing reasons as the German media claim.
According to Cisse, Bayern Munich could not come to terms with how an African player was the highest-paid player at the club hence they plotted moves to part ways with the prolific forward.
According to reports, Sadio Mane was one of the highest paid players at Bayern Munich after joining the club for £35m from Liverpool in 2022 with an annual wage offer worth €22m.
Mane rose to the top of the club’s earning ladder becoming the club’s highest-paid with a weekly wage of €422,077.
He overtook goalkeeper Neuer, who was previously the club’s highest-paid player. He earns €403,846 every week. He was followed by Thomas Muller, who earns €394,231 weekly.
Before Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich, the German side had six German players leading the club’s wage ladder.
After Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane was third on the ladder with €384,715 as weekly wage. He was followed by Joshua Kimmich, who earned €375,000 weekly, Serge Gnabry, €362,885, and Leon Goretzka, €345,154.
The signing of Mane forced down the ring of German top earners at the club as the Senegalese raked in a whooping €423,077 weekly to become the highest-earner.
Cisse has claimed Mane’s Bayern Munich contract offset the club’s wage structure, playing a significant role in Bayern Munich’s decision to sell out Sadio Mane, not only his dwindling form.
Speaking with After Foot RMC, Cisse said Bayern Munich officials could not put up with the fact that an African player earns more than every other player.
He also added Bayern Munich told Sadio Mane he will be used as a third-choice winger and blasted the club for being unfair on how they handled Sadio Mane’s transfer.
Cisse revealed Bayern Munich previously wanted to sell Sadio Mane for €20m but raised the fee to €30m when they noticed he was doing well after returning to training from injury.
“Sadio’s salary bothered the Germans, they didn’t understand how an African joins the club and becomes the top earner ahead of everyone, so they wanted to get rid of him.
”They never called the player’s representatives. They never told Sadio face-to-face that they wanted to get rid of him. They just sent (Thomas) Tuchel to tell him that he will be a third choice left winger.
”Sadio has nothing to prove to the Germans. He didn’t become what he’s become thanks to Bayern. It was thanks to Liverpool. Bayern were ungrateful. They were paying an African all this money, and that hurt them.
“He was professional until the end. But the people in charge at Bayern weren’t fair,” Cisse said.
Despite his relegation to Bayern Munich bench, Sadio Mane scored 12 goals in all competitions for the club.
His stint was marred with injury before the 2022 World Cup but the Senegalese was reportedly ready to continue with the club before they insisted on letting him leave this summer.
Mane has signed a two year contract with Al Nassr, joining the likes of Seko Fofana, Alex Telles, and Marcello Brozovic who have joined the club this summer.
He will reportedly earn €30,834,807 every year and €589,488 every week at the Saudi outfit.
