Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has broken silence on rumors linking Liverpool to a move for Kylian Mbappe
The Mirror reported the Premier League giants have weighed into the contract stand-off between PSG and Kylian Mbappe and are ready to sign the player on loan this summer.
While the club were yet to respond to the rumors making the rounds, it was understood Kylian Mbappe and his mother agent Fayza Lamari have been a die-hard fans of Liverpool.
Kylian Mbappe told the Telegraph of his admiration for Liverpool and also reiterated he was linked to the club while he was at Monaco before joining PSG.
Mbappe has also been credited for hailing Jurgen Klopp’s style and tactics at Liverpool, and how the coach turned the club into a winning machine.
Mbappe was linked to many Premier League clubs amid his contract faceoff with PSG. Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham – all the big six in the Premier League were reportedly interested in the prolific French forward with reports emerging the French talisman would rather prefer a move to Arsenal due to an impressive project under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
While non of the aforementioned clubs made concrete moves to sign Mbappe, it was claimed they have an interest on the forward.
Liverpool were the first Premier League club to have taken their interest on Mbappe a step further by reportedly opening talks with the player as reported by the Mirror.
The report says Liverpool were ready to sign Kylian Mbappe on loan for a season and foot his wages before he joins Real Madrid.
Now, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has denied report Liverpool have opened talks for Kylian Mbappe.
According to him while the club would be interested in signing a striker in the class of Kylian Mbappe, nothing has been done by the club on that direction because of the huge financial outlay it will demand from the club.
He added as long as he knows, the club has not moved for the player.
“We laugh about it.
“I can say that I think he’s a really good player, but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all.
“I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now, but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it,” Jurgen Klopp told Sky Germany.
However, Klopp seemed to get Liverpool fans still guessing over the Mbappe’s link as he added the club officials may likely be preparing to surprise him with such moves though – something that has not happened since he joined the club.
“But it’s possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me, but that hasn’t happened in the eight years that I’ve been here. That would be the first time,” he told Sky Germany.
Chelsea in talks with PSG for Kylian Mbappe
After reports emerged Liverpool are in the race to sign, Kylian Mbappe, Chelsea have also waded into the race for Mbappe.
The Blues have reportedly tabled a player-plus-cash offer for Kylian Mbappe after being prompted by PSG to make an offer for the player.
A deal with Chelsea could see the player reunite with the Premier League club. Kylian Mbappe had a trial at Chelsea when he was 10 but the club reportedly refused to sign because he failed to score in an 8-0 win over Charlton.
Fourteen years later, Mbappe is the biggest and hottest striker on the market. PSG wanted to keep Mbappe but finally decided to part ways with the highly-rated forward after he said no to contract renewal with only a year left on his contract.
