Milan, the home city of both AC Milan and Inter Milan, might push the two biggest football clubs in the Italian League out of the city.

The two clubs had lost patience over the wait for a new arena in the San Siro area of Italy, which is meant to be built in the car park of the current stadium.

If the two clubs move to the new arena, there is going to be a demolition of the old stadium. Although there are considerations on whether to demolish it or not due to the historical buildings and structures in San Siro.

The Milan council released a statement on July 28, 2023, confirming there will be a protection order placed on the stadium.

The Council said “If confirmed, the decision would have serious consequences not only for the future of the stadium and its economic sustainability but also vastly reduce the possibility the teams will remain in Milan with a new stadium.”

Inter Milan have gotten a place in the Rozzano area for a new stadium, and AC Milan have booked a space in San Donato, Milan, ahead of next season.
