Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Juventus to sign his former teammate Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, according to reports from Italy.
It was reported by La Gazzetta Dello Sport, that Ronaldo has requested that Serie A champions Juventus sign former teammate Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, as he feels their partnership can bring success to the club.
The duo formed a devastating partnership during Ronaldo’s nine years in Madrid. Together, they won every trophy attainable in Spain, including the UEFA Champions League on four occasions, three of which were consecutive.
Ronaldo is keen on linking up with the 32-year-old striker once again after Juventus struggled to perform last season.
Despite clinching the famous Scudetto, Maurizio Sarri failed to deliver during his stint at the Allianz Stadium. Juventus lost in the finals of the Coppa Italia to bitter rival Napoli and crashed out the Champions League in the Round of 16 to seventh-placed Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon.
This cost Sarri his job, with the Serie A champions appointing former player and club legend Andrea Pirlo as head coach.
With rumors of a squad overhaul likely to take place, Pirlo has already stated his plans to rebuild the Juventus side, Arthur Melo has signed from FC Barcelona, with Miralem Pjanic going the other way. Blaise Matuidi has also quit the Serie A side, signing for MLS outfit Inter Miami CF.
It is rumored that Pirlo plans to get rid of many first-team players, with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Douglas Costa and Sami Khedira likely to leave the club. Gonzalo Higuain is also expected to quit the club in the coming weeks, and if Benzema does make the switch, he would be a direct replacement for the Argentine.
With Ronaldo pushing for the Benzema deal, a devastating front three of Ronaldo, Benzema and Serie A MVP Paulo Dybala is on the cards for the newly appointed coach.
Since Ronaldo Left the Santiago Bernabeu, Karim Benzema has been in outstanding form. The Frenchman has racked up over 50 goals and registered an additional 22 assist in just two seasons.
