The Spanish giants are pushing ahead with plans to modernize their stadium and they have started dismantling the old structure.

Futballnews shared a video on Twitter showing the latest images and walls of the stadium being torn down to rubble.

The renovation is set to cost about £1.25billion and they are looking to finish the revamping of the stadium in time for the start of the 2025/26 season.

Barca’s new stadium will see the capacity expanded from 99,354 seats to 105,000, increasing its gap as the largest football ground in Europe.

Barcelona will own the largest stadium in Europe after the revamp with over 10000 seats more than second-placed Wembley with 90,000 capacity.

The new Camp Nou will also see a roof added alongside a stadium rename in line with the club’s £237million sponsorship deal.

Recall we reported that Barcelona have gotten a title sponsor for the first time in the history of the stadium which is Spotify.

Since 2020, there have been speculations that Barcelona were in search of a title sponsor for Camp Nou.

And After a series of back and forth, the indebted club settled with a multi-purpose deal with Spotify.

There have been as many as 250 workers that have been seen on site in recent weeks, with even more expected in the coming weeks.

The reconstruction by the Spanish giants is the first major renovation of the stadium since it opened in 1957.

The Nou Camp hosted its last LaLiga game in the just conlcuded 2022/23 season six weeks ago – a 3-0 win over Mallorca.

Barcelona on the other hand announced in July 2022 that they would play their 2023/24 home matches at the Olympic Stadium.

The Olympic Stadium, which hosted the 1992 summer Olympic and Paralympic games, is not far from the city and has a capacity of 55,926.

Joan Laporta, President of Barcelona, visited and inspected the site himself together with several board members last month.

In an Interview with a Spanish media, he said: “It is an impact, and the first sensation it generates is nostalgia.”

“But, after walking around and seeing the pace of the works, which are going well, it gives you the feeling of hope and joy because we are fulfilling a collective dream of the people of Barcelona.”

Recall we reported that Barcelona announced the arrangement with Spotify in March of 2022, with an estimated value of €280 million.

The organization’s name and logo featured on the front of the club’s freshly released home and away kits for the 2022–2023 season, which will remain there for four more seasons until 2026.

The naming rights portion of the agreement started immediately after the official conclusion of the 2021/22 season on June 30, while Spotify will continue to sponsor the training kit until 2025.

A new façade with Spotify branding was also added to the stadium’s front as part of the Camp Nou renaming.

Barcelona will relocate to the city’s Olympic Stadium for the 2023–2024 season to allow their existing home to undergo a £1.3 billion restoration, as we previously stated.
