Brazilian Star Luan Attacked At Hotel By His Club’s Fans

Brazilian star Luan was reportedly attacked at a hotel by disgruntled supporters who were unhappy with his performances.

According to local media reports, the 30-year-old Olympic gold medalist from Brazil in 2016, was attacked and suffered minor injuries during a party he hosted at a hotel on Tuesday, July 4.

The party was attended by approximately 10 guests but no report claimed that any of the guests were harmed.

However, Luan, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season, recently shared a photo on Instagram featuring his blood-stained clothes.

The Brazilian club Corinthians have strongly condemned the actions of fans who cowardly assaulted the midfielder at a hotel.

The Brazilian club, Corinthians states that they received the news of Luan being assaulted by alleged fans with sadness and indignation.

The statement read: “Corinthians received with sadness and indignation the information that athlete Luan was assaulted by alleged fans.”

In addition, the club have announced that they will provide all necessary support to the assaulted player.

They added: “After another repugnant case of violence, Corinthians regrets the current intolerance that dominates Brazilian soccer. Nothing justifies the cowardly aggression suffered by the athlete.”

Why the fans attacked Luan?

Luan, who was once highly regarded as one of the top players in South America, joined Corinthians in 2020.

However, he has not been able to live up to expectations and deliver for the Brazilian club based in Sao Paulo.

His contract is set to expire in six months, and there is a significant number of fans who are eager for him to depart.

The 30-year-old player, who was previously associated with Liverpool and achieved an Olympic gold medal at Rio 2016, has scored a total of 11 goals in 80 matches for Corinthians.

However, he has not been a regular player for the past two seasons and the fans want him out of the club.

Corinthians, a historically prominent Brazilian club in football, has faced significant challenges this season.

They were unexpectedly eliminated in the Copa Libertadores group stage, marking only the second time in their history that this has occurred.

Luan Guilherme de Jesus Vieira, born on March 27, 1993, is a talented Brazilian professional footballer.

He currently occupies the position of attacking midfielder for Corinthians.

After initially playing for futsal and participating in amateur clubs in his home state, he went on to join Tanabi.

Luan made his debut for Catanduvense and shortly transferred to Grêmio. On 14 December 2019, he made another move to his current club, Corinthians.

Luan’s international career

Luan was initially included in Brazil’s provisional squad for the Copa América Centenario, but unfortunately, he was later omitted from the final squad.

He was later chosen to be a part of Brazil’s team for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

During Brazil’s quarter-final match against Colombia, Luan scored the second goal of the game, leading his team to a 2-0 victory.

He continued to play as a starter throughout the tournament, showcasing his skills and contributing to Brazil’s success.

He made his full international debut on January 26, 2017, when he replaced Diego Souza in a friendly match against Colombia, which ended in a 1-0 win.

Update on his attack

Luan has chosen not to publicly comment on the incident and has also refrained from filing a complaint with the local police.
