Manchester City are set to battle Arsenal for the services of Declan Rice as they see him as a replacement for the departing IIkay Gundogan.
It has been reported that two massive offers are set to be made for Rice, with one of those offers set to come in from Manchester City.
Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio said on Thursday evening that the Englishman is edging closer to a move to the Etihad Stadium.
There is also growing confidence that an agreement can be made to get Declan Rice to Manchester from London.
Pep Guardiola’s side are getting set for life without captain IIkay Gundogan, who played an instrumental role in the club’s treble success last campaign.
Gundogan is on the brink of joining Barcelona after the expiration of his deal with Manchester City.
He is set to pen a two-year deal with the Catalan giants with an option for an additional year.
Manchester City are going for Declan Rice
Due to that eventuality, Manchester City have set their eyes on Declan Rice in spite of already agreeing a deal with Chelsea for the signature of Mateo Kovacic.
The Citizens usurped Arsenal to the Premier League title last campaign and they are now hoping to repeat the same feat in the transfer market by getting the signature of Declan Rice.
There are positive talks ongoing between Arsenal and West Ham United, who are said to be working on both the amount and how the payment will be made.
Rice was remarkable for West Ham United last term as he assisted the club to its first European success since the 1960s.
The 24-year-old also played in 50 out of The Hammers 61 games last season as he captained the club to all they achieved last term.
Despite late worries over relegation, West Ham United still managed to finish in a comfortable position off the murky waters.
They capped it up with a final triumph by winning the UEFA Europa Conference League with Declan Rice playing an important role in them lifting the trophy.
Man United are also interested in Rice
Manchester United are also said to be interested in Rice and there have been internal conversations about the possibility of striking a deal for the Englishman.
Financial Fair Play rules might deter them off the deal as it is unlikely that Erik Ten Hag’s side will spend a massive part of their budget on one player, bearing in mind that Manchester United still have other areas that they want to upgrade in the squad.
David Sullivan confirmed that Declan Rice will leave the club this summer and they wouldn’t withhold him if the right offer comes for him.
However, they are demanding a fee of around £120 million if they are to allow their captain leave.
Interesting times are still ahead in the transfer market as we might just be seeing a bidding war involving Arsenal and Manchester City for Declan Rice.
