Mason Mount is now a top summer transfer target for Manchester United as the Red Devils prepare for next season.
According to reports, Erik Ten Hag is keen on signing the prolific Chelsea midfielder in the summer and is hoping to wrap up a deal as soon as possible.
Mason Mount is ruled out of Chelsea’s last games this season due to injury but has been targeted by top European clubs in the summer transfer window.
Mount has a year remaining in his Chelsea contract. Contract renewal talks between him and the club has stalled due to his pay parity demand and increased wage offer which has been rejected by Chelsea.
The contract renewal deadlock has triggered speculations on Mason Mount’s imminent exit from Stamford Bridge with Manchester United reportedly ready to take advantage of the situation.
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are closely monitoring Mason Mount’s situation at Stamford Bridge and are ready to land the England star.
The report adds the Red Devils are ready to launch a £55m bid for Mason Mount in the summer with Erik Ten Hag hoping to seal a deal immediately.
Sources close to the Old Trafford club reveals Manchester United are set to swing into talks with Chelsea at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool are top on the list of clubs interested in signing Mason Mount at the summer. However, Manchester United are hoping to take the pole position on the race for the midfielder by trying to commence talks immediately.
Chelsea were keen on extending Mason Mount’s contract but face an uphill task of convincing the England star to take a lesser wage than his Chelsea pal Reece’s James, who pockets £250,000 weekly.
Reece James and Mason Mount are Chelsea homegrown players. Mount earns £80,000 weekly at Chelsea hence his demand for a pay parity in the proposed new contract by the club.
With the Blues’ £600m transfer splurge in the last two transfer windows, Mason Mount’s Chelsea future is uncertain.
The Blues are effectively shored up against next season in the middle of the park and are looking to offload and downsize the overbloated squad in the summer.
Sources close to the club reveal Chelsea are ready to part ways with Mount but at the right offer. Daily Mail reveals the Blues will demand £85m for the out-of-favor midfielder but may not likely sell him to rivals in the Premier League like Manchester United despite the optimism in Ten Hag’s camp.
