Xavi Hernandez’s men came out victorious over Catalan rivals, Espanyol by 4 goals to 2 on Sunday to secure their 27th Liga title in the history of the club and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was a lucky figure based on that win.

Several players from the group of the Catalan powerhouse were able to clinch the first major trophy of their career.

And it was a Sunday of joy for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who also celebrated his first league title with Barcelona, the club he left last summer for Chelsea.

He’s never won a league title in his nomadic career, it is now done, as he was listed among the players who won La Liga this season by Barca.

His name even appears in a celebratory shirt which is donned by Barcelona players who took part in the coronation.

As a reminder, the 33-year-old striker played 9 measly minutes against Rayo Vallecano on the 13th of August in a barren draw.

Who is Pierre Emerick Aubameyang?

Pierre-Emerick Emiliano François Aubameyang is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Chelsea.

He is an ex-Gabonese international, he is also the country’s all-time leading scorer. He was born in Laval, France.

In 2022, he joined Barcelona on a free transfer after his Arsenal contract was rescinded by mutual agreement.

Months later, he signed for Chelsea on a two-year deal for a supposed £10.3 million.

Aubameyang’s international career

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang made his debut for the France under-21 team in February 2009 in a friendly match against Tunisia U21.

Aubameyang was also eligible to play for Spain because he has Spanish nationality. But he ultimately chose to represent Gabon.

On 25 March 2009, Aubameyang was selected for the Gabon national team and made his debut for the squad.

He scored his first goal in a 2–1 victory over Morocco and appeared in four AFCON tournaments alongside the 2012 Summer Olympics.

In 2016, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was named African Footballer of the Year becoming the first Gabonese and also the second European-born player to win the prestigious accolade.
