A shock twist on the rumored agreement between Lionel Messi and Al-Hilal has surfaced as his father and agent, Jorge Messi breaks silence.
Reports from French media which was carried by major media outlets said Lionel Messi has completed a move to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
Futballnews understands Al-Hilal had tabled a record £260m-a-year-deal for Lionel Messi before the reports of the purported agreement emerged.
Now, amid speculations that Lionel Messi has completed and sealed a deal to join Al-Hilal at the end of the season, his father and agent, Jorge Messi, has broken his silence on the state of things and his son’s PSG future.
In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Jorge Messi discountenance all claims Messi will join Al-Hilal this summer.
According to him, Lionel Messi is yet to agree any deal with any club and a decision will be taken at the end of the season.
Jorge Messi guaranteed Lionel Messi is currently in contract with PSG and cannot broker any deal until his contract expires.
Jorge seems to blast the media for always carrying fake news with Lionel Messi’s name without checking to verify them and also reemphasized ‘nothing is signed or agreed verbally’ for now.
“There is absolutely NOTHING agreed with any club for next season. We won’t do anything now – and we will decide at the end of the current season.
“I can guarantee it will never be decided before the end of current season with Paris Saint-Germain.
“Leo’s name is always used around – but we can guarantee that there is NOTHING signed, agreed or even verbally agreed and won’t happen now.
“It’s full of fake news around with no proof of what these ‘media’ say in public to invent stories and with zero respect – why don’t they check their news?”
On Tuesday, a top French media outlet, AFP broke the news Lionel Messi has signed an agreement with Al-Hilal to join the club.
According to AFP, the deal was intended to be kept of the glares of the media, but a source close to the Saudi club leaked details of the deal, saying it is a ‘done deal.’
The report as gathered by the source said all the ‘T’s and ‘I’s were crossed and dotted by Lionel Messi and Al-Hilal early in the morning on Tuesday and the Argentine playmaker was just awaiting for the expiration of his PSG contract to join the Saudi club.
It is pertinent to note that in spite of the claims by Jorge Messi that Lionel Messi is yet to broker any deal with any club, Messi’s PSG future seems to have been settled.
We had reported earlier Lionel Messi will leave PSG at the end of the season.
His relationship with the club came under wires last week when he undertook an unsanctioned trip and was suspended by the club for two weeks.
Messi later apologized to the club and his teammates before PSG lifted the suspension.
After missing the 3-1 win over Troyes, he returned to PSG training and is set to feature for the club in their next Ligue 1 clash against Ajaccio on Saturday, 13 May.
Jorge Messi’s statement on Lionel Messi has further cast doubts on his destination but it is understood PSG will not renew his contract.
The 35-year-old has roughly one month and two weeks remaining in his PSG contract. The expiration timeline literally rules out the possibility of a new deal.
Moreso, contract renewal talks which gathered momentum after he returned from the World Cup has broken down.
All fingers are now crossed on where Lionel Messi will pitch his tent next season. Barcelona are eyeing his return to the team. David Beckham’s Inter Miami in the MLS are also on the queue.
Al-Hilal have not just indicated interest but have dropped a mega offer and are more closely link to the 2022 World Cup hero than the other two.
With Al-Hilal closing in on a deal than Barcelona and Inter Miami, Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo is reportedly worried and has objected to a move to Saudi Arabia for reasons best known to her.
Hence, the coming days will offer more interesting episodes in the Messi transfer saga as we watch out whether Antonela Roccuzzo’s opinion will determine Lionel Messi’s transfer decision.
