Leicester City Jumps From Relegation Zone After Draw With Everton

Leicester City have jumped out of the relegation zone after settling for a 2-2 draw against Everton in the Premier League.

It was a relegation battle at King Power Stadium as the two teams, teetering on the edge of the drop zone, lock horns.

Leicester won the reverse fixure at Goodison Park and were looking to complete a double against the Sean Dyche-led team for the first time since 2015/16 season.

Both sides went into the game trapped in the relegation zone and needed a win to keep Premier League survival hopes alive.

Everton got the game to a brilliant start despite playing away from home. They pinned the Foxes into their own half pressing mainly from the right flank.

The Toffees dominated proceedings for 10 minutes before Leicester began to make inroads into the game.

The Foxes came close to their first chance in the 13th minute when Maddison aimed a shot on the bottom-left but Jordan Pickford was equal to the task.

After Leicester’s first attempt, Everton’s pressure yielded result in the 14th minute after Calvert-Lewin was brought down in the box.

The host conceded a cheap penalty following the challenge and Calvert-Lewin made no mistake as he fired straight through the middle while Iversen dived to the right. It was a deserved lead for the away side after a dominant display.

Leicester City made an incredible comeback efforts after trailing by a lone goal.

Buoyed by a rousy home fans, painting the King Power Stadium blue, the Foxes equalised in the 22nd minute with Soyuncu firing pass Pickford to make it 1-1.

Both sides struggled to dominate play after the game was tied in the 22nd minute.

Everton were the better side with ball possession but were jittery when under Leicester City counter.

11 minutes after Soyuncu’s equaliser, the Foxes took a surprise lead. Jamie Vardy exploited Everton’s poor defending to put the host ahead.

The England star latched onto Maddison’s throughball, rounded off Pickford before slotting the ball into the net.

Everton ramped up attempts to find an equaliser but were held off by the Foxes.

In the stoppage-time of the first half, Everton were dealt a big blow when they conceded a penalty following Keane’s handling of the ball in the box but James Maddison missed it, blowing away a chance to extend the lead before the first half break.

Leicester City started the second half on a good note and nearly atone for the last-minute penalty miss in the first half.

Castagne had set up Jamie Vardy with a good cross but the Leicester City forward was too slow to slot it into the net.

Leicester City were clinical on counters but played second fiddle to the Toffees with ball possession.

Everton continued to search for an equaliser going forward but the Toffees needed Iwobi’s 55th-minute clinical finish to come back into the game.

The Nigeria international latched on Faes’ poor clearance and fired pass Iversen to bring the score to a 2-2 draw.

The Toffees continued to dominate proceedings but needed to guard against speedy counters by Leicester City.

Both sides struggled to regain the lead all to no avail as the game ended on a 2-2 draw after the final whistle.

Leicester City jumped out relegation zone to 16th place with 30 points while Everton remain on the drop zone, 19th on the log with 29 points.
