Indications are showing that Arsenal football club is in pole position to get the service of Barcelona forward, Philippe Coutinho during the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian playmaker has found the first-team opportunity hard to come by after being injured during his loan spell with Bayern Munich.

Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, quoted by Metro, reported that the Gunners are interested in a potential swoop to sign the South American playmaker in the summer transfer window.

In this light, Gunners have shown their big effort to sign Coutinho after their director of football Raul Sanllehi contacted his former employers Barcelona about a summer deal.

Countinho scored nine goals for Byern during his loan stint

Sanllehi has a good relationship with Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian as well. This puts the North London club in a strong position to sign the Brazil international.

How Arsenal can sign Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian has never hidden his love for the Premier League after flourishing with Liverpool. Unfortunately for him, the Reds started record success a season after he moved to Nou Camp in a deal worth £140m.

Barcelona wants to recoup part of the cash splashed on the Brazilian and are therefore not ready to have a player-plus-cash deal involving Matteo Guendouzi moving to Camp Nou.

This is therefore another headache for the North London club as the manager,Mikel Arteta reportedly have just around 50 million pounds to spend in the transfer market.

Although he had hoped to return to Anfield, Mundo Deportivo reported that Coutinho would be open to a switch to north London as well.

Arteta given a limited budget

Coutinho was only able to score nine goals in 34 games in all competitions during his season-long loan at Bayern Munich after falling out of favour at FC Barcelona.

After moving to Camp Nou, the 28-year-old has won two La Liga titles but he has been struggling to have a telling impact at the Spanish giants over the past 30 months.

Next on Arsenal’s schedule is the FA Cup final clash against Chelsea FC at Wembley on Saturday evening.

Arteta will be searching for his first trophy after leading the Gunners to the eighth spot in the Premier League table. Winning the tournament automatically qualifies them for the next season Europa League.
