Roma manager Jose Mourinho is set to return to the dugout after Sports Court overturn his two-game ban in Serie A.
Jose Mourinho bagged a red card in Roma’s shock 2-1 loss to Cremonese in Serie A on Tuesday.
It was a disappointing Serie A outing for the Champions League hopefuls at the Giovanni Zini Stadium.
Against the run of play, Tsadjout opened the scoring for Cremonese in the 17th minute to smash Roma’s Serie A top-four hopes.
They held on to the narrow 1-0 lead until the 71st minute when Spinazzola finally break through Cremonese’s brink wall defense to net the equaliser for Roma.
In the 83rd minute, Roma conceded a late penalty. Ciofani converted it and returned the home side to the lead. They held on to the 2-1 lead to secure their first Serie A win in 27 years.
Jose Mourinho bagged a two-match ban in the game. The former Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid manager picked his third red card of the season after confronting a fourth official on the touchline.
Still trailing the home side by a lone goal in the early minutes of the second half, Jose Mourinho clashed with Marco Serra forcing the center referee Marco Piccinini to send him off with a red card.
After the red card, Jose Mourinho continued to claim innocence, pointing at Marco Serra saying he was the culprit in the bust-up.
Following his third red card of the season, the Portuguese tactician was expected to serve a two-match ban that will restrict him from the dugout in Roma’s next two fixtures.
Now, according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, the Sports Court has announced the suspension of the ban temporarily.
Jose Mourinho has reportedly tendered his complaints to the court, including four Roma players and the court have decided to freeze the ban temporarily since they are yet to hear from Marco Serra, the fourth official.
The report also confirms a hearing into the case will be conducted on March 10, and the court have mandated prosecutors to wrap up their Investigations in a matter of days before the hearing.
Meanwhile, the Sports Court have slammed Mourinho with a €10,000 fine after he ‘vehemently and provocatively challenging a referee’s decision.’
According to reports, Marco Serra was reportedly at the heart of the bust-up with Jose Mourinho. He had incensed the former Real Madrid manager by asking him to mind his “f***ing business.”
Jose Mourinho sought legal intervention following Piccinini’s decision to issue him with a red card without hearing from both sides.
According to him, Serra spoke to him in the most incredible way.
Speaking after the match, Jose Mourinho said;
‘I need to understand if I can take any legal action. Piccinini gave me a red card, because unfortunately, the fourth official does not have the capacity to understand what he said to me.
‘I want to find out if there is an audio recording. I don’t want to get into the fact that Serra is from Turin and on Sunday we are playing against Juventus.’
The Champions League winner added it was the first time he has been incredibly disrespected by the fourth official in a match and he had to go and speak to them after the game.
‘For the first time in my career, a fourth official spoke to me in the most incredible way. It was unjustifiable. At the end of the game, I went to speak to them.’
‘Piccinini, who was the fourth official in the last game when I was sent off, told me to apologise to Serra. I told Serra he should have the courage to explain what happened, but he had memory problems.’
The touchline bust-up was triggered following a clash between Roma’s Marash Kumbulla and Cremonese’s Frank Tsadjout.
Following the temporary suspension of the ban, Jose Mourinho is now set to return to the dugout in a crunch Serie A tie against Juventus.
A win against Juventus will see the team close in on the Serie A top-four finish with just a point away.
