Rob McElhenney, a fellow actor and Hollywood superstar, acquired the non-league team in 2021 for £2 million.

Despite not receiving any promotion after the success of the TV documentary “Welcome to Wrexham,” they have gone on to become a major hit all over the world since the takeover.

Reynolds traveled specifically from America for Sunday’s FA Cup match against Sheffield United, which ended in a dramatic 3-3 tie.

Before their attempted giantkilling of their Championship opponents, which was being shown live on BBC, host Lineker and analysts Shearer and Hughes had a chance to talk with the 46-year-old star of the silver screen.

Reynolds told BBC that: “I’m standing amongst legends here!”

“It has been the greatest experience of my entire life, not withstanding my family. It’s going to be multi-decade project, and everything it entails is just magic. We wanted to get involved.”

“We looked at a bunch of different clubs but Wrexham just spoke to us, the club was already perfect, it just needed a bit of awareness.”

“We’re not here to make decisions on the pitch. I look at this place like a church. It’s got a special place in my heart, and it’s spreading across the world.”

“The plan is to get to the Premier League, If it’s theoretically possible then why not? That is the goal.”

“Realistically the fact that we’re in this church, if I were Sheffield United, I’d be taking this game very seriously.”

Before the interview, Reynolds was seen giving the BBC Match of the Day guys a signed Wrexham shirt. Reynolds continued: “We sold 24,000 jerseys this year.”

“So many went to North America and Canada. It’s been amazing. The reception overseas has been the most surprising thing. The part that I find most gratifying is the support from outside the club, Wrexham has become a tourist destination.”

“I’m pacing around like a caged lion. This is an extraordinary day. It’s a classic David versus Goliath story. This is football, anything can happen.”

Hughes, a former Wales international, echoed the views of Reynolds and said: “The impact the guys have had since they came in has been phenomenal.”

“I’m a Wrexham boy, I’m from down the road, and everyone has been talking about it, everyone’s delighted.”

Wrexham’s FA Cup Run Continues

On Sunday, Wrexham came within one goal of pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the year before Sheffield United grabbed a dramatic 3-3 FA Cup tie.

In the oldest national football competition in the world, Wrexham, who compete in the fifth tier of the English football pyramid, came from behind to lead Sheffield United.

However, Sheffield United scored with almost the final kick of the game to guarantee that the two teams would play again in a rematch of the fourth round.

The FA Cup fifth round draw will take place on Monday, at least for Wrexham.

The conclusion was incredibly dramatic, fitting for the well-known co-owners of Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Wrexham, the lowest-ranked team to reach the FA Cup’s fourth round this year, rallied from a goal down to defeat Sheffield United, who are rated second in the Championship, three divisions above their opponents.

Oli McBurnie’s header gave Sheffield United, the visiting team, the lead after just two minutes. However, Wrexham won the game thanks to goals from James Jones and Thomas O’Connor in the second half.

Against the odds, Oliver Norwood scored the equalizer for Sheffield United.

Paul Mullin, the standout player for Wrexham, however, was there to deliver what appeared to be the ideal Hollywood climax when he scored a late goal following a red card for Sheffield United.

That was not to be. With nearly the final kick of the game, John Egan scored for the opposition, tying the score at 3-3.

Wrexham’s Injury Woes

Jordan Tunnicliffe of Wrexham was forced off in the FA Cup due to an unexpected injury.

Two minutes into the game at the Racecourse Ground, Oli McBurnie gave Sheffield United a 1-0 lead.

However, he managed to accidentally hurt Tunnicliffe while enjoying himself.

James McAtee was knocked out as a result of McBurnie’s collision with the midfielder as he finished his bullet header.

The attacker gained pace after that and struck Tunnicliffe.

The center-back was replaced by Max George Cleworth after only three more minutes.

A few minutes later, Wrexham was obliged to make another adjustment, which made their problems worse.

James Jones had to replace Aaron Hayden, the defender, making it two compelled substitutions in the first 10 minutes.

What Next For Ryan Reynolds And Wrexham?

Wrexham is anticipating the FA Cup fifth round draw, which happens on January 30 at 19:00 GMT (2pm ET, 12pm PT).

In the event that they defeat Sheffield United in their replay, they will undoubtedly aim for a “glamour tie” against a team like Manchester City, Manchester United, or Tottenham Hotspur.
