And the Merseyside outfit, Everton, are without a victory in their top flight since October and their 19th spot in the league table has stuck them in a relegation battle.

The Toffees’ miserable form, having lost six matches and drew two in their last outings, is Lampard’s longest winless run as a manager in the premier league tournament.

But speaking after the dismal event, the under-fire Lampard has declared he isn’t thinking about the possibility of being axed, despite the club’s horrible form.

Speaking after the disappointing loss to the Hammers and about whether he fears for his job, the former Chelsea manager said: “I don’t fear, I’m proud to do the job.

“I never get that far down the line to fear, I just do my job, I get up every day and think how we can get a little bit better, it’s as simple as that.”

After the 2-0 defeat, Lampard went on to the pitch to console his players and charge them to applaud their supporters after they had failed to impress them.

But following the full-time whistle, only five Everton players went over to the traveling Toffees fans in the away end at the London Stadium to clap for them.

When the Toffees boss, Lampard was questioned on why the rest of the team chose to go down the tunnel, without following his instruction, he remarked: “It’s a tough moment”

“We had a big fight and stayed in the league [last season],” he told Match of the Day.”

“We lost Richarlison and now have tried to build around that, so, normally, we are fighting again when other clubs are trying to move on.”

“History moves on and nothing gives you the right to be in their league. If you don’t move you will hit tough times. We are in tough times and everyone has to try to move forward.”

“It is impossible for me to jump into the future. Last season we were five points shy of safety with five or six games to go, but as a club, we have to move together.”

“I cannot complain about the spirit of the players and how they approached the game. They may have passed it slowly but we didn’t find it in the final third.”

The former Chelsea boss Lampard who revealed, after the 2-0 defeat that The Toffees are in “tough times” has admitted that he knew the task at Goodison Park would be tough when he took over the managerial job a year ago because the club was already struggling.

During Everton’s unfortunate form in their Premier League race over the past three months, the Toffees have been knocked out of both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup at the third-round stage.

Meanwhile, Lampard’s disengagement from Everton’s duty remains uncertain following Everton owner Farhad Moshiri’s response when he was asked by Sky Sports if it was time Lampard was sacked.

The Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri, who was at London Stadium to watch his team in action for the first time in 14 months replied on Lampard’s case: “I can’t comment. It’s not my decision.”
