Former Manchester United and Premier League legend Roy Keane blasted David de Gea after his horrendous mistake against Everton.

The Frank Lampard boys, who have been winless in eight games arrived Old Trafford looking to pull a shocker as they took on Manchester United in the FA Cup third round.

Both teams did not take chances as they fiielded their best legs in the game, and were eager to proceed to the next round with nothing less than a win.

From the start, the game assumed a frantic pace. Both sides were attack-minded, charging forward with any opportunity with the ball.

Manchester United were quick to take the lead and they were the better side in all angles of the game.

David de Gea

New signing from Ajax opened the scoring for the Red Devils five minutes into the game after he volleyed home a cross by Marcus Rashford.

The second goal in the game came from the visitors in the most bizarre of circumstances.

Davi de Gea was caught out at his near-post as the ball squirmed between his legs and crept into the path of Conor Coady who had an empty net to tap into to pull Everton level at 1-1.

The goal nearly spoiled the game for the home side but thanks to Coardy own goal and Marcus Rashford’s stoppage time spot-kick that helped the Red Devils cruised to a deserved 3-1 win.

Meanhwhile, David de Gea got Manchester United fans and pundits talking after the costly mistake that nearly saw the Red Devils settle for a draw.

During ITV’s half-time coverage, Keane said it looked as though the Spanish keeper had ‘a few drinks’ due to his unusual mistake.

When asked about the goal, the former United captain said: ‘Listen, it’s a shocking mistake from an international goalkeeper.

‘De Gea there, it’s like Carry On football. It looks as if he’s had a few drinks. Shocking mistake.

‘It’s almost as if the keepers been sent off and an outfield players gone in goal, he doesn’t know what to do! It’s a horrendous mistake.’

Meanwhile, Conor Coardy who capitalized on David de Gea’s to level the scores for the Tofees was the man that later returned Manchester United to the lead with an own goal.

Marcus Rashford’s cross was just too fast for Coardy who mistakenly poked the ball into his own net to bring the scoreline to 2-1.

Marcus Rashford then scored late to secure the win after being involved in the previous two goals.

Keane though wasn’t the only pundit to rip into De Gea’s mistake, Manchester United fans were furious with David de Gea after the blunder, with many saying it is high time he called time on his career.

David de Gea

Manchester United have been reluctant to renew David de Gea’s contract, and Erik Ten hag’s body language on the De Gea’s Old Trafford future is clear.

While David de Gea is optimistic of continuing with the Red Devils and possibly retiring at the club, he is falling off Erik Ten Hag’s pecking order.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the season. He was left out of the list of players whose contract extension clauses were triggered by the club.
