Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino are the leading contenders for the England job if Gareth Southgate walks away from it. Tuchel, who was sacked by Chelsea earlier this season, has shown interest in the job.

In his first season, Tuchel won the Champions League, the Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. Also, he got to three domestic finals.

The manager has good experience, and he will be dealing with similar faces in the squad if he becomes the manager.

Players like Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Ben Chilwell, and other young players from Cobham will have the chance to impress him.

Tuchel is the kind of manager who can bring in a winning mentality and get the England team its first major trophy in 60 years.

However, Nationality is likely to stop him from getting the job due to the English FA favouring English managers.

Mauricio Pochettino, on the other hand, is free after being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain last season. The manager has a strong affirmation for the English job after coaching Tottenham and Southampton over the years with excellent records.

The manager’s style of play is similar to Southgate’s, and he has developed different young players, with Dele Alli coming through his tutelage.

The manager will work with his former striker, Harry Kane, who will be happy to work with him. However, his failure to win trophies with Tottenham will be a problem for the English FA.

Meanwhile, many players have backed Southgate and want him to continue with the squad. If he doesn’t quit, he is likely to take the team to Euro 2024. The manager is eager to succeed but needs to be fair in his selections.

Graham Potter, Eddie Howe, and Brendan Rodgers are also contenders for the job if the managers leave. Fans expect that the next manager would be someone capable of making the team win trophies.

Why England should go for Thomas Tuchel instead of Mauricio Pochettino

Tuchel is a manager who motivates his players on and off the pitch; he is capable of delivering and has a greater winning rate than Pochettino. Even at Paris Saint-Germain, he was able to manage big-name players like Neymar and Mbappe.

Pochettino’s man management skill is not topnotch. Hence, big-name players like Raheem Sterling and Declan Rice may be very difficult to handle.

When the German manager was at PSG, the team had 62 clean sheets and a loss rate of 12%, compared to Pochettino’s 30 clean sheets and a loss rate of 16.6%.

Pochettino has never won a big trophy in his career, although he came close to winning the Champions League in 2019 but was defeated by Liverpool.
