However, the Manchester United ace, Marcus Rashford, who is also England’s top scorer with 3 goals in the Qatar World Cup tournament has thanked the English fans for their unconditional support.

In a tweet, the 25-year-old Rashford appreciated his fans and vowed that the England team “will come again.”

While England are still mourning their exit from the World Cup competition, England captain Harry Kane has expressed his disappointment for his penalty miss.

England team was considered one of the favorites to win the 2022 Qatar World Cup and they initially lived up to the tag as they advanced into the quarter-finals unbeaten.

The Tottenham veteran striker has taken responsibility for England’s World Cup elimination and admitted the result “will hurt him for a while”.

Kane said: “It is a tough night to take.
“I am gutted, the team is gutted. We had full belief that we could achieve something special at this World Cup but it came down to small details.

“I thought on the night we had the better chances and better spells in the game.
“It comes down to execution. As captain, I take it on the chin and responsibility for missing the penalty.

“It is hard to take for sure but I can be proud of the group, proud of each other for what we’ve done.

“This will hurt for a while but we will dust ourselves down to get ready in the future.”

England’s loss to France really came as a shock to their supporters but one of the teams must win and luckily it was France.

Meanwhile, it initially seemed like Gareth Southgate would join other managers to quit his job; even though he said he won’t make a hasty decision, many think the England boss deserves to stay.

Piers Morgan persuades Southgate to remain as England boss

Sun Sports columnist and Talk TV host Piers Morgan has led the calls from players and soccer pundits for Gareth Southgate to stay as England’s head coach.

The 52-year-old England boss, Southgate has a contract until December 2024 but his future still seems to remain up for negotiation after another World Cup heartache for England.

The England coach confirmed there will be talks with the FA once his team travels back from Qatar and a decision on whether he will stay or not will later be made.

Ahead of the FA talk, Piers Morgan was quick to try to persuade Gareth Southgate to stay as England’s boss

Morgan tweeted: “Lots of debate over whether Gareth Southgate should continue as England manager.

“My criteria are this: could anyone else have done better with this (very good) squad of players?

“I don’t think so, and I like the way his team plays & behaves under him. So, I say: carry on Gareth.”

In the same vein, Manchester United and England legend Gary Neville told ITV: “I would love Gareth to stay on for another two years.

“I’d love him to stay on beyond that whether it be actually as the coach or whether it be in a role in the FA in the future.”

In addition, fellow United legendary footballer and ITV soccer pundit Roy Keane also shares similar sentiments, saying: “You’d fully expect Gareth to stay on for the Euros, of course.

“It’s not certain whether Gareth Southgate will continue to be England’s boss but he would like to redeem the World Cup loss and lead the Three Lions to victory in the upcoming Euro 2024.”

Following the World Cup exit, England will not be seen in football action until March, when they kick off their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
