A unanimous decision has been made by the board of directors at the Old Lady to resign en masse.

Managing director Maurizio Arrivabene is set to remain in charge of his administrative duties despite also resigning, with the club set to fall into a significant period of transition.

The 2021-22 saw a year of record-breaking losses published by the Turin club, with a £220 million (€254.3m) loss being registered by the Serie A giants.

The decision was made upon the proposal of president Agnelli after the board agreed that it was in the best interest of the club for a new board to take over at Juventus.

Agnelli’s decade overseeing an unprecedented period of dominance at the Allianz Arena including a nine-year run of Serie A titles has now come to an end as a result.

A statement published on the club’s official website said that the board received ‘new legal and accounting opinions’ from independent experts in charge of assessing the ‘critical issues’.

Agnelli’s period of unprecedented dominance at the Allianz Arena – including a nine-year run of Serie A titles – has now come to an end as a result.

The full board of directors also includes Laurence Debroux, Massimo Della Ragione, Katryn Fink, Daniela Marilungo, Francesco Roncaglio, Giorgio Tacchia, and Suzanne Keywood, as well as Agenlli, Nedved, Arrivabene.

Juventus, under Agnelli’s stewardship, are still signed up to the breakaway league along with Barcelona and Real Madrid, despite the other nine European clubs quickly stepping away from the project due to backlash from the football community.

To take up the European Super League vice-chairman role, Agnelli had to resign from his executive-level positions in the European Club Association and the UEFA committee.

However, Juventus have fallen off its perch in recent seasons, with Inter and AC Milan winning the last two Serie A titles respectively.

Juventus are currently third in the Serie A table, 10 points behind leaders Napoli, and are currently managed by Massimiliano Allegri who Agnelli let go in 2019 only to rehire him 18 months later.

Juventus were also knocked out of the Champions League group stages earlier this month and dropped into the Europa League a further blow to their financial standing.

According to various Italian media outlets, the unanimous decision comes as a result of the body’s involvement in the Prisma investigation, opened by the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Shareholders are set to meet on 18 January 2023 to appoint the new board, the club said.

But despite overseeing a period of dominance for the Italian giants, and spending lavishly in the transfer market of late, Juventus has lost its footing at the pinnacle of Italian football.
