The ex-lover of Gerard Pique said she had ‘no firm commitment’ with Gerard Pique till 2015, when she gave birth to her second baby.

The Colombia music maestro revealed this after the Spanish authorities arraigned her for alleged tax evasion and fraud, with a potential eight years prison sentence on the cards.

Shakira is said to have allegedly evaded tax to the tune of £12million.

The Waka Waka crooner is accused of not paying 14.5 million euros ($14.7 million) in tax income between 2012 and 2014.

However, her legal representatives have maintained that Shakira did not actually settle in Spain within the said period.

Shakira, who has been awaiting trial, confirmed in a statement that she did not properly live in Spain from 2014 to 2015 because her relationship with Gerard Pique was still nascent and undeveloped.

According to a Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, Shakira claimed: “there was no firm commitment” between her and the former Barcelona defender.

She added that since the relationship was just fledgling and not solid, the two rarely see each other and only meet during fleeting travels and holidays.

According to her, Pique and her finally decided to have a proper house to settle in at the end of 2014.

Shakira, who met Pique in 2010, gave birth to his first son, Milan, in 2013, and the duo welcomed their second son, Sasha, in 2015.

The former couple ended the relationship earlier this year, and the reason for their split largely remains a guess till now

Meanwhile, she has been standing trial for evading task after settling with Pique in Spain.

While the mother-of-two has continued to drag with the Spanish authorities on the tax evasion claims, she has blasted them for “using her” as an example for others and, by so doing, violating her privacy.

From the perspective of her legal counsel, the Spanish authorities have acted with the “unacceptable purpose” of “instrumentalizing” the Colombian singer with “exemplary purposes for the rest of Spanish taxpayers.”

Shakira’s legal representatives further argue that the Spanish tax authorities have carried out “unusual action” in the process of trying to “instrumentalize” their client.

According to reports, the sensational singer’s legal counsel is seeking redress for “measures that violate the right to privacy such as requests to medical centers to obtain reserved information such as appointments and exams results.”

Meanwhile, the Spanish authorities reportedly took drastic measures to demonstrate that between 2012 and 2014, the artist resided in Spain more than 183 days a year, and, therefore, she was obliged to pay taxes in this country.

Shakira’s defense has insisted the claims by the Spanish tax authorities are “radically false” and that there is “reliable evidence” that “without the slightest hint of doubt,” she did not spend in Spain most of the year.

While Shakira is battling to clear her name of tax fraud charges by the Spanish authorities, another report filtering in has confirmed that she has finally fallen out with her mother-in-law, Montserrat – her last ally after breaking up with Gerard Pique.

Hence, Shakira appears to have gone scorched earth when it comes to her relationship with Gerard Pique’s family after appearing unfriendly to his mother at a recent meeting.

The couple had to meet recently at a basketball game for their son Milan, which was a predictably awkward encounter with plenty of people watching on.

It is said that Shakira completely ignored Pique’s new girlfriend, Clara Chia, which is understandable. But she also seemed to ignore Pique’s mother as well.
