Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly lost over three million followers following Instagram outage, which saw several accounts being shutdown.
Instagram users were shocked after a two-hour outage led to a massive loss of followers and other undesirable consequences earlier this week.
Some users who took bold steps to lodge complaints with metaverse had their accounts suspended.
The outage which appeared around 9am ET was fixed about four hours later on Monday, September 31, 2022.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the most followed person on the platform, lost about three million followers.

The Manchester United star was among the heavy casualties, who saw a massive exodus of followers due to the outage on Monday.
Nevertheless, it has been confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo had returned to his 493million followers which he had before the outage occurred.
While the reason for the crash remains unclear, several users reported their accounts being suspended because they ‘didn’t follow its community guidelines’.
Others had also lost followers, which may have been due to the millions of suspended accounts that caused in the removal of follower counts.
According to reports, Instagram’s parent company Meta was contacted for further comment on the cause of the issue, but did not say much after acknowledging the glitch on its Twitter page.
Just after 10:00am ET, Instagram tweeted: ‘We’re aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We’re looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience.’
However, despite the two-hour outage, some users were reportedly able to log in to their accounts and continue with regular services without encountering any difficulties.
But users who were affected got a message from Instagram saying: ‘We suspended your account on October 31, 2022.
‘There are 30 days remaining to disagree with this decision. Your account doesn’t follow our Community Guidelines.’
Those who clicked to appeal against their suspension were then presented with a mysterious black screen with a loading circle.
Despite the rush by some users to tender complaints and the defects corrected, It was learned that Cristiano Ronaldo, who was one of the highest losers from the melee, did not tender any complaints to the operators of the social media platform.
Interestingly, the football icon and top star gained back his followers after the problem was fixed.
