The gruesome death of an unarmed black man George Floyd sends chills to the spine of many people that saw the video of him dying on the street. As a result, many concerned businesses and organizations around the world show their support for the family by saying, enough is enough. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Hertha Berlin players show their support for the cry for justice for black people in America by protesting on the pitch. Bayern players wore a T-Shirt that reads “Rot Gegen Rassismus”, this means “Red against Racism in English. The wore the shirt during the 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen. 

 

Dortmund rally to support George Floyd 

 

All Dortmund players warmed up for their match against Hertha with a shirt that reads “ NO Justice, No peace” and United Together, before their match. Also, player and coaches from both Dortmund and Hertha all took a knee before kickoff and had a moment of silence for George Floyd, a black man that was killed my officer Derek Chauvin

 

Football is about sports but it’s also about unity, it has a voice and the players are using their platform to campaign against racism and they want the family of George Floyd to know that they are with them in the days of trouble.  

 

Officer Derek Chauvin has been arrested for the murder of an unarmed black man, George Floyd and he is currently awaiting trial along with other 3 police officers who were present when them Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck and back, causing the man to later die. Independent autopsy revealed that George Floyd died due to a lack of air to his lungs and brain. Goerge Floyd’s cause of death was ruled asphyxiation from sustained pressure. Officer Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck and back for over 8 minutes.
