Aguero and John Stones returns but Silva still remains a doubt
Aguero and Stones will play against Leicester City on Saturday

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola says Sergio Aguero, and John Stones returns in line to face Leicester City on Saturday. But David Silva still not sure, he might not play.

Aguero has been suffering a thigh injury in their 2-1 victory over Chelsea on November 23. Hence, making him miss four Premier League games for the champions.

While Stones got hurt in the 2-1 Manchester derby loss to United on December 7. But Silva, however, still seems to be battling with a knock he upheld against United.

Guardiola is hopeful on the players, thinking they are fit to welcome Leicester to Etihad Stadium on Friday. As both resumes training, this week and will appear in their weekend match.

Meanwhile, the City goes into the game four points behind the opponent on the table and 14 below the leaders Liverpool. But, Stones and the Argentine likely returns will boost the Citizens against the tough tie with the Foxes.

Besides, Guardiola expects nothing but a quality play from the second-place Leicester but remains positive on his squad. Anticipating a good game from Brendan Rodgers’ side and believes confident City can close the gap at the top.

On the other hand, Rodgers hopes Saturday’s game can showcase how strong his side has become. Especially cites his stars such as James Maddison.

Pep Guardiola confirms Aguero and Stones participation at the weekend game

“It is the game where the big players and the big personalities can perform and thankfully James has done that throughout the season,” Rodgers said.

“He has got eight goals in 20 games, which for a young midfield player is absolutely brilliant. He has that personality and belief that in the big games he can perform.

“We respect we are playing against a really top-class team that have been the champions the last couple of seasons and play to a fantastic level.”

The Irish coach relies on his players’ qualities to defend his 2nd place on the table. Away defeat on his side will seal the gap to a point ahead Guardiola’s City.
