Wayne Rooney’s son, Kai, is the new poster boy for Puma JD Sports Clothing Range as he takes on the footstep of his father.
Former Manchester United and Premier League legend Wayne Rooney is married to Coleen Rooney. They have four boys – Kai, Klay, Ki, and Cass together.
The eldest of them, Kai, is fast picking up from where his father stopped both in his football career and modeling roles.
He secured his first modeling contract with Puma after his father signed a deal with MLS club DC United.
Kai, 12, was pictured tying the laces of his white trainers as he kicks off the campaign for his first modeling job with Pumas.
The ambitious teenager signed a deal with the sports brand last month and started a campaign to create awareness by sharing the picture with over 59,000 followers on his Instagram page.
He is taking to his father’s role perfectly, who featured alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in a modeling role for Nike in 2010.
While Wayne Rooney is Manchester United’s all-time top-scorer with 253 goals in 559 appearances, the Man United U-12 forward is also on a rampage at Manchester United Academy.
He scored an incredible 56 goals for Man United U-12, where he is playing with Cristiano Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Ronaldo jr.
Speaking about his son’s choices, Wayne Rooney said that Kai had other options before deciding to give in to Manchester United.
“He did have other options, other clubs to go to. But he decided he wants to sign for Manchester United, so it was his decision and not mine,” Rooney said.
Wayne Rooney is now the coach of DC United after resigning as Derby County manager under controversial circumstances.
While at his new duty post at DC United, he has been paid occasional visits by his family, including Kai, his mother, and the rest of the siblings.
Meanwhile, after kick-starting his campaign by tying the laces of his white trainer last month, the youngster has been unveiled again as the poster boy for Puma’s JD clothing range, according to her mother, Coleen.
Coleen Rooney posted the picture of Kai as the sportswear company’s new poster boy with a heart of joy, adding the caption, “my @kairooney.10” via her Instagram story.
Kai’s contract with Puma was signed back in August. He had done his first modelling shoot that August. The poster boy picture is his second.
The 12-year-old Manchester United academy player may likely end up in Manchester United as his father.
Taking up a modeling role at a very tender age is a great improvement for Kai in his career, including his prolific form for Manchester United Academy team.
He signed for Manchester United U-12 in December, 2020, making Rooney so proud and happy with the decision.
He was handed the number 10 shirt which his father used to wear, a symbolic move to continue Rooney’s legacy with the Red Devils.
Kai has immediately picked up his father’s goal-scoring form, banging an incredible 56 goals, including 28 assists in the 2021/22 football season.
