Several coaches and players have shared social media posts on their social media accounts to commiserate with the Royal Family on the loss of the queen.
While people are making tributes, some others are making jokes as well as disgusting recounts in connection with the passing away of the Queen.
Cristiano Ronaldo pays beautiful tribute to Queen Elizabeth II
In honor of Queen Elizabeth II who passed away on Thursday at the age of 96, Cristiano Ronaldo shared a lovely tribute.
On a somber night at Old Trafford, the Manchester United superstar, who is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, played his first Europa League match in 20 years hours after the Queen’s passing was officially announced.
“Seven years of my career were played in the Premier League, making this my 8th season living in England,” the legendary Portuguese forward wrote. “Throughout these years, I’ve felt the everlasting love of the UK for it’s Queen, and how important Her Majesty was and will forever be to the British people.
“I pay my respect to her memory and I mourn this irreplaceable [loss] with the country that I’ve learned to call home.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family.”
Harry Kane and Anthony Joshua Pays tribute
Harry Kane, the captain of the England football team, and Anthony Joshua, a world champion boxer, led the athletic tributes to Queen Elizabeth II after the 96-year-old monarch’s passing.
In 1952, the Queen ascended to the throne and ruled for 70 years.
Her oldest son Charles, formerly Prince of Wales, will serve as the nation’s new King after her passing.
Harry Kane wrote on Twitter: “My thoughts are with the Royal Family at this very difficult time. The Queen was an amazing inspiration and will be remembered for her incredible years of service to this country. Rest in peace, Your Majesty.”
Former England footballer Gary Lineker added: “Such a terribly sad day. Her Majesty The Queen has died.
“A truly remarkable woman who served her country with dignity, loyalty and grace. A comforting ever present in the lives of most of us. Rest In Peace, Your Majesty.”
Brazilian football legend Pele, wrote: “I have been a great admirer of Queen Elizabeth II since the first time I saw her in person, in 1968, when she came to Brazil to witness our love for football and experienced the magic of a packed Maracana. Her deeds have marked generations. This legacy will last forever.”
United wrote on its Twitter Handle that: “Manchester United shares the sorrow of the entire nation following the announcement from Buckingham Palace on the passing of Her Royal Highness The Queen Elizabeth II.”
The humorous tale of when Emmanuel Eboue met Queen Elizabeth resurfaced
This week, Emmanuel Eboue, a former defender for Arsenal, emerged with his amusing tale of his encounter with Her Majesty the Queen.
Following the demise of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, a video of the Arsenal team’s visit to Buckingham Palace in February 2007 surfaced online. At the time, they were the only club to ever be extended such an invitation.
After the Gunners relocated from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2006, the Queen was supposed to cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the new stadium.
But Prince Philip took her place after she apparently strained her back.
The Queen reportedly invited the Arsenal players and staff for afternoon tea at the Palace after expressing her disappointment at missing the occasion.
And on that particular day, one gamer, in particular, had a fairly noteworthy experience with Her Majesty.
