Sergio Ramos and former PSG teammate Leandro Paredes collided as PSG defeated Juventus 2-1 to record their first win in the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League opener.

Leandro Paredes was back to face PSG at Parc des Princes in Tuesday’s Champions League group match, after leaving the club to join Juventus just seven days ago; on 31st of August 2022, on a preliminary loan deal.

The 28-year-old Argentine defensive midfielder engaged in a trouble spot with his former teammate Sergio Ramos in the first half of the UEFA Champions League match against his former side, PSG.

The Spanish defender, Ramos seems to have gotten infuriated by the visitors’ violent foul thereby confronting Paredes after two consecutive fouls. PSG’s Kylian Mbappe was fouled through the back by Breme in the 24th minute of the game, then Fabio Miretti fouled Vitinha.

Ramos seems not to take it kindly with the Juventus defenders including Paredes, things went rough between the two as Paredes walked towards Ramos, the latter thrust the former PSG midfielder by the throat.

Both Ramos and Leandro continued to lambaste each other for a long time before their teammates separated them and calmed the situation.

Even though the duo happened to resolve their differences with a friendly hug, Ramos received a yellow card for the hullabaloo.

Meanwhile, the all-time PSG midfielder Marco Verratti said he was not surprised to have seen Leandro and Ramos pound on each other as he claims “both players care so much”.

“I’m good friends with [Paredes]. The odds on that happening were pretty good as I’d seen them go at it in training,” Verratti told Sky Sport Italia,

Verratti added: “I’d have bet my house on that happening. Both players care so much and put a lot of character into every challenge, but they always have a hug at the end.”


The French superstar Kylian Mbappe played the lead role in yesterday’s UCL opener game as he gave PSG the win. Mbappe opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the game with a dramatic goal utilizing an assist from Brazilian Neymar Jr.

With another assist from Achraf Hakimi, Mbappe added the second goal in the 22nd minute before the end of half-time.


However, the visitors struggled to brazen up to equalize but their strength couldn’t match the breathless pounce of the host.

Juventus managed to score one goal as substitute Weston McKenzie made it 2-1 in the second half.

In a post-match interview with Marco Verratti, the 29-year-old Italian midfielder revealed he was not expecting a soft challenge as they were against a strong opponents.

“We were up against a strong opponent in Juve and knew we’d suffer to get the three points. After a good first half we struggled a bit in the second.”

He continued: “Juve relaxed a bit after their goal and started to believe. They are a great team but we worked together to bring home the result.”
