Chelsea have not given squad numbers to six players ... What is the plan for the new season?

With the support of their new owner Todd Boehly, the Blues have been particularly busy in the transfer market, signing youngsters Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina from Aston Villa and Chicago Fire, respectively, as well as Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly from Manchester City.

Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja have both returned from loans, and there is substantial suspicion that a deal for Marc Cucurella is close to being finalized, despite a statement from Brighton’s club stating otherwise.

There are even connections to the Barcelona three of Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

And a frenzy of fresh signings means that a number of Chelsea players will be rendered unnecessary going into the new season.

Levi Colwill, a young defender who spent the previous campaign on loan at Huddersfield Town, has not been assigned a jersey number and appears destined to join Brighton as part of the Cucurella deal.

Ross Barkley, who previously represented Chelsea with the Nos. 8 and 18, has not been given a number. He participated in six Premier League games last term and scored the club’s game-winning goal against Watford in the season’s last contest.

Signing for £33 million After four loan stints at three different teams, Michy Batshuayi finally appears to be leaving the team, and Brazilian Kenedy is unquestionably on his way out as well.

The future of Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour, 21, who spent preseason with the Under 23 team, is gloomy.

Everton has expressed interest in him, while Welsh international Ethan Ampadu, who spent last season at Venezia, may return to Italy on loan.

Following John Terry’s consent, Chelsea has announced on their official website that Koulibaly will don the No. 26.

Gallagher and Broja will wear the Nos. 23 and 18, respectively, which they wore at Southampton and Crystal Palace, respectively, last season. Sterling will keep the No. 17 he has been sporting during preseason.

Chukwuemeka, an 18-year-old sensation who arrived for £20 million, will wear number 30.

Chelsea’s record scorer and former manager Frank Lampard’s Everton host them to open the 2017 Premier League season.

The following players are among the Chelsea players who have not yet received 2022–23 squad numbers; we are unsure of The Blues’ plans for these players.

Ross Barkley, Michy Batshuayi, Billy Gilmour, Kenedy, Levi Colwill, and Ethan Ampadu are the players yet to get a squad number and nothing has been said in regards to it by the Stamford Bridge Outfit.
